Lavender Soap | |||||||||||||||||
|
Lavender Soap Skill level easiest: 1. Grate about 5 oz (125g) of unperfumed soap. Good way to use up those little unwanted pieces. 2. Place two or three big handfuls of lavender in a teapot or bowl (adult supervision if a child) pour in two cups of boiling water. Stir the mixture around and let it steep for a few minutes. 3. Pour some cold water into a saucepan, than place a smaller pan in it. The water level should reach halfway up the side of the smaller pan. 4. Place the larger pan on the stove. (again adult supervision) Pour the grated soap and a little of the lavender water into the small pan. 5. Heat slowly until the soap has melted. Add more of the lavender water if necessary. 6. Remove both pans from the heat. Add about three tablespoons of oatmeal to the soap mixture and than stir well. 7. Grease two small molds or cookie cutters with butter or petroleum jelly (vaseline) and place them on a sheet of wax paper. 8. Carefully spoon in the soap mixture and smooth it down the top with the back of a hot spoon. (Run the spoon under hot water to keep it warm) Let the soap dry, This can take up to a week. 9. When the soaps are dry, take them out of their molds and leave them for a month in a dry place on some tissue paper. | ||||||||||||||||
